If you can’t do songs with witches in them, similar activities go with the songs Frog in the Meadow and Akka Bakka Soda Cracker. Those songs are in duple meter and major, though.

Activity

Hold a xylophone mallet as if it is a large stirring stick in a witch’s cauldron. Walk around the room, singing and stirring the brew with both hands holding the mallet. Whichever kid you are standing in front of at the “Boo!” gets to take their turn next.

Assessment Opportunities:

  • Can the student predict the end of the song? Do they move after the end of the song?
  • Does the student move in a way that matches the feel of the song?
  • Do both hands stay on the mallet while stirring? Do they stir with their arms or entire body?

  • This can be done seated.
